Get to Know Malachi McLegend
Malachi McLegend recently released his latest single “That Type of Night”, and the music video drops this Friday. Let’s get to know the West Haven based artist a little bit more.
Q: What first inspired you to start playing and making music?
A: What inspired me to start playing and making music is simply because music inspired me and gave me a voice when I was lost and in most need of it. My relationship with music is so sacred, pure, and most importantly filled with so much love that I put into it and that it gives back to me, and ultimately, I pray I can give it back to the world.
Q: How would you describe the music that you typically create?
A: The music I typically create comes from divine inspiration and from a truly pure place in my life. When I create, I really have no intention, it just comes and flows naturally from just playing a few notes or just having a melody that I just can’t get out of my head.
Q: Who is one artist that you would love to collaborate with one day?
A: An artist I would love to collaborate with one day is The Weeknd.
Q: If you could be an opening act to any artist, who would that be?
A: The artist I would love to be an opening act for is the The Weeknd.
Q: Where are you in your career now and where do you want to be in the next five to ten years?
A: I am currently at the place I need to be, and I can only trust the process and take it one step at a time. Five to ten years from now I want to continue making great music and to hopefully be one of the biggest artists in the world inspiring millions and millions to do the same and to chase their dreams every day.
Q: What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?
A: Music is truly my all and I give my all to it with every chance and opportunity I get. My passion comes from my heart and just the true love I have for music. I am essentially nothing without music.
Q: What is your biggest motivation?
A: My biggest motivation is giving my family the world and giving back to the world in any way I can.
Q: Is there any inspiration/meaning behind your stage name?
A: My stage name is simply my name, and my last name comes from my mother. She initially told me to change my real last name from McLean to McLegend, but ultimately, I just want to be Malachi and hopefully that can be my permanent name.
Q: When you’re not creating music, what are some things that you enjoy doing?
A: When I’m not creating music, I love to hang out with my friends, play basketball, play football, eat food, have fun, freestyle, and most importantly going to the beach which is one of my favorite places on the Earth.
Q: Do you have any future projects you can tease?
A: Yes, I have an EP ready and a conceptual album about my life that I am currently working on!
